Government of Greece to sell majority stake in Piraeus Port Authority

The government of Greece has launched a transaction to sell a 67% stake in Piraeus Port Authority, the company responsible for the management of pier 1 in Piraeus port near Athens. The Port of Piraeus is the largest port in Greece.

The government has shortlisted five bidders under a privatization scheme. Chinese shipping company Cosco is one of them. Cosco is already responsible for the operation of the other two piers at Piraeus port. The government is negotiating with the shortlisted companies to get competitive bids.
